  • Abstract

Traditionally, the causality exercised by the minister in the celebration
of the sacraments has been seen as an instrumental causality and the
causality in the office of preaching as a secondary causality. This distinction
aims to show the more discrete place of the minister in the sacramental liturgy
whereas, in predication, his science intervenes directly. However, an attentive
reading of St. Thomas Aquinas invites us to look more closely at the question.
The Aquinate, in fact, uses more often expressions of instrumentality for
the office of preacher. The interest in unifying the causality at work in these
diverse ministerial charges is to render more clearly how the vicarious institutions
of the humanity of Christ participate in his instrumental causality.

  • Abstract

The present article analyzes the doctrinal connections between
Thomism and Jansenism in the quarrel over grace at the time of the promulgation
of the Bull Unigenitus (1713), beginning with the polemic which
opened the way for the Traité de l’action de Dieu dealing with the creatures
of the Jansenist François-Laurent Boursier. In proposing a strictly Thomistic
interpretation of the Augustinian positions, Boursier provoked the irritation
of the Molinist party, who, in return, accused the Traité de l’action de Dieu of
    spreading atheism and Spinozism

  • Extract

  • Abstract

The grievances addressed to the conciliar and post-conciliar Magisterium
in matters of ecumenism and the interreligious dialogue call for theologically
supported responses. Only an accurate approach to the development
of the dogmatic formulas, as the one Mgr Frost offers in his recent L’Église se
trompe-t-elle depuis Vatican II ?, permits a comprehension of how the Second
Vatican Council is inserted into the continuity of the anterior affirmations on
the Church, in specifying them and in deepening them.

  • Abstract

This study recenses the master work of Fr. Gilles Emery, o.p., The
Trinitarian Theology of Saint Thomas Aquinas (2007). Not only does it constitute
a remarkable introduction to the central intuitions of the trinitarian synthesis
of the Summa theologiae, but also, in dialogue with contemporary trinitarian
issues, leads the reader to a refined intelligence of this mystery-source, at the
    school of St Thomas Aquinas.
